The Rev. Dan Marotta
Rector

Dan is the founding Rector (Lead Pastor) of Redeemer. He studied Family Therapy at the College of William & Mary and Theology at Denver Seminary before completing his training for the priesthood.

The Rector’s role is to guide the vision and spiritual direction of the Parish. His responsibilities include: prayer, teaching, administering the sacraments, leading the staff, collaborating with the Vestry, counseling parishioners, and cultivating the overall ethos of Parish life.

In addition to his leadership at Redeemer, Dan seeks to serve the broader church through writing books and articles, speaking at churches and conferences and co-hosting a weekly podcast.

He also finds refreshment through practicing weekly Sabbath rest, coaching his kid’s sports teams, and fly fishing.

Aware that leadership is frequently accompanied with the risk of misusing power, Dan is committed to serving with honesty, humility, and transparency. He is accountable to the Bishop of the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic, to Redeemer’s Vestry, and Staff. His aim is lifelong fidelity to Christ and His Church.

Dan is married to Rachel, his high school sweetheart, and together they live in the city of Richmond with their four children and black lab named Scout.
