Epiphany 2017

Revealed in His Poverty

Scripture Text: Mark 10:17-31

When Jesus began His ministry, people had expectations for who he was and what he would do for them. Some of those expectations were accurate, but many were not. Often the words and deeds of Jesus caught people off guard and forced them to let go of their preconceived notions. Today Jesus continues to surprise people. He continues to meet us in unexpected ways that force us to change - to let go of what we expect from Him and to embrace Him on His own terms. The season of Epiphany is a time of the year dedicated to celebrating the revelation of the Son of God - and so, we will spend the coming weeks exploring the Gospel of Mark to see how Jesus chose to reveal Himself.
